Yodobashi Camera opened its store which was Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Kyoto(ヨドバシカメラ マルチメディア京都) on November 5th 2010. It’s connecting by the subway road to Kyoto Station.

Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Kyoto has not only cameras and electronics goods but also clothing stores, restaurants and Uniqlo(ユニクロ) on two floors.

As I wrote the post Bic Camera at Kyoto station, there was only 1 largest home appliance retailer which was Bic Camera(ビックカメラ) around Kyoto station. But after Yodobashi opened its store near Kyoto station, Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Kyoto must be a good rival for Bic Camera.
It takes only 10 minutes from Bic Camera to Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Kyoto by walk.
So if you want to buy electronics goods at Kyoto station and you have time, you could compare the prices and decide which store to buy what you want.

Happy new year, everyone.
I went to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine for “Hatsumode” which is the first shrine visit of the New Year to pray for comfort and health in the new year.

As I wrote in this post Kitano Tenmangu Shrine – pray for success in examinations, Kitano tenmagu shrine is one of the best shrines to pray for success in their studies and examinations. A half million people come to pray for their wishes only in 3 days between January 1st and 3rd here.

Opening Hours :
9:00 – 17:00

It was freaking cold out there.

A bunch of people come here to pray for their wishes.

The smell coming from any stalls is pretty good. And I love this atmosphere.

Wanage (Ring Toss)

The stone statue of the resting cow lying stretched out, has its connection with the shrine’s special agricultural rituals. The cow is considered to be a symbol of good harvest.

It’s huge. I’ve never seen this big Ema before here. This must be here only in January for Hatsumode.

People pat the cow on their heads so that they can become smart like Michizane.

Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka aka Akasaka Prince or Aka-pri, will be closing its doors after March 31, 2011 after 55 years in service.
It’s sad because although it’s a 100 meter tall Christmas tree is illuminated on the wall of Tokyo’s Akasaka Grand Prince hotel, this is the last Christmas for them.

The illumination will continue until midnight Dec 25.

This is the big illuminated Christmas tree. It’s kinda rare to see the Christmas tree on the wall.

The red or yellow maple leaves that grace temples, shrines and parks fascinate a lot of tourists in November.

Today, I was walking around Togetsukyo bridge(the landmark) in Arashiyama to enjoy its autumn foliage. Even though you don’t go to temples or shrines, you can enjoy many things to see in Arashiyama.

My friend told me that apparently Tokyo has the vending machine to sell only “Banana”. Actually, I didn’t believe what he was talking about whatsoever. But I was wondering if it’s true or not.

So I googled it and what my friend is talking about was right. Google showed me several articles for the vending machine. I was really interested in checking the vending machine.

It is located right in front of a book store “Book1st” in Shibuya. The banana is named “Bobby Banana”. Bobby Banana is sold by international leading banana distributor “Dole”.
Bobby banana being sold by the vending machine is available either at 130 yen per piece or 390 yen per bunch, which is 2-4 times more expensive than its supermarket price.

This is the banana vending machine.

Dole ボビーバナナ(Dole Bobby Banana).

Available at 130yen per piece. Super expensive for me. I saw many people talking pictures of this banana vending machine. But I didn’t see anyone who actually bought banana in the vending machine.

Another shot of the expensive but ordinary banana.
